About Us
How did we start this crazy ride!?
Once upon a time a lost soul left London and travelled to Poland to write the 21st century’s greatest novel. Literary immortality evaded him, but he did manage to find a job reviewing bars for a website called Cracow Life, which in hindsight suited him much better.
After 4 years of vodka-fuelled good times, making lifelong friends, and becoming at least 25% Slavic, the now-slightly-less-lost soul had a chill so deep in his bones from the polska zima that he decided enough was enough… he was moving to Barcelona.
Kicking off his freelance travel journalist career in Spain, with articles for Ryanair, Easyjet Traveller and various other inflight magazines (not to mention a nightlife guidebook for Party Earth), he went on to contribute his travel savvy for CNN, The Guardian and Conde Nast Traveller, all the time struggling to pay the rent on the smallest room in Barcelona. Meanwhile at night, he beavered away on his beloved Barcelona Life from his desk (a chest of the drawers, with the drawers taken out so he could fit his legs underneath) in his office (a wardrobe where said chest of drawers was located).
From these humble beginnings grew the travel guide you see today.
Now that I’m through with the intro, let me add that my name is Duncan. You can find nearly anything you want to know about Barcelona on this site (if you don’t see what you’re looking for in the menu, hit the search bar!).
And if you still can’t find what you’re looking for you can always email me on duncan@barcelona-life.com.
Happy travels!
