Festa Major de Sants 2024
August 24 - September 1
After the much-fêted Festa Major de Gracia, the Sants district festival is probably the most fun to visit for foreigners looking to get into the Barcelona summer groove. Many of the streets will be dressed up with kitsch but fun thematic decorations, and the live music stages tend to attract a fun loving young crowd.
The party continues late at the Industrial Park, with anything from heavy rock music to drum and bass pumping out the stereo, whilst fair boutiques, kiosk shops and a festival-sized bar provide more distractions.
During the day things are decidedly more family orientated with kids workshops and even a chance to spot castellers, aka the Catalan human castles.
You’ve got zero chance to finding any useful information in English on their official website (and not much chance in Spanish or Catalan either), but occasionally their Facebook page drops a small clue of what is going on, while the city website tends to publish a daily programme in Catalan nearer the time (just check they are still not displaying last year’s agenda!).
How to Get There
The action takes place behind Sants Train Station. It’s best to get off at metro station Plaça de Sants. From there if you walk back in the direction to the main train station you’ll find a lot of participating streets on your left. Down and to the right is the Industrial Park, which is best later on at night. There’s usually live music at Plaça d’Osca too.
