Forum of street art and graffiti
Established by an American artist and his Catalan wife, Base Elements is a workshop/studio/gallery dedicated to the colourful, chaotic and even anarchic world of street art and graffiti.
Every wall and available surface is thickly tiled with kaleidoscopic canvases of abstract and pop art, with clearly visible influences of computer games, advertising and other aspects of modern culture.
Those with their ear to the ground may even recognise the names of some of the artists who’ve achieved fame/notoriety through their work: such as Pez, Uri and Juan Pajares.
If Barcelona’s traditional art galleries have sent you to sleep then Base Elements will shake you out of your slumber – especially if one of their zany live performances are taking place.
