Passeig del Born

From knight life to nightlife

The heart of Barcelona’s Born district, the Passeig del Born is a long rectangular open space which stretches from the Santa Maria del Mar church to Placa Comercial.

In medieval times the Passeig was the scene of jousting competitions, but today the (k)night life is a little more contemporary. Arousing from a typically sleepy afternoon, the shutters are pulled up and suddenly both sides of the street are lined with cool bars, such as the popular Miramelindo, and funky eateries, such as Crepes del Born.

Hipsters arrive on their scooters to hang out with tapas and a caña or two, whilst touts sell 1 euro beers to Bohemians and hard-up tourists content to drink from the comfort of stone benches.

If you’re keen on sampling the Barcelona night scene then Passeig del Born is definitely a calmer more sophisticated alternative to the likes of Plaza Real.
