Ceverceria Catalana
Popular tapas joint near La Casa Mila
Finding a quick, tasty lunch while you’re wandering between sights on the grand Passeig de Gracia can be a bit of a challenge. Luckily, that’s where Cerveceria Catalana steps in. ‘Cerveceria’ is Catalan for beer bar, but in fact this extremely popular stop off is more of a tapas restaurant than a brewery – in fact most punters seem to prefer the house sangria to a refreshing beer.
With a long counter showcasing all sorts of tantalising treats, such as grilled cuttlefish, roasted artichokes and their signature huevos cabreados (‘angry eggs’), the only challenge here is choosing which ones to order. The eatery is conveniently located just a few minutes’ walk away from Gaudi’s famous mansion La Pedrera.
Go early, as it can get busy at meal times. Although bear in mind that “early” by Barcelona standards is probably just normal eating hours for you at home!.
