CosmoCaixa
Science museum which is ideal for kids
CosmoCaixa is Barcelona’s science museum – and, actually, it used to be known as that until 2004. The museum has exhibitions focused on nature, science, the environment, and space, including its very own planetarium.
It’s generally a huge hit with kids, as they’ve installed a large amount of touch and play displays that make learning interactive. A major highlight of the museum is the “Flooded Forest” (Bosc Inundat) exhibition, a 1000 m2 reproduction of a slice of the Amazon jungle.
Located at the foot of Tibidabo, above the Gracia district, CosmoCaixa is a great attraction to combine with a visit up to the top of the mountain and its famous theme park with views over the whole city.
Also nearby is Gaudi’s Torres Bellesguard, one of the architect’s lesser known works that is well worth a visit.
