Ice Barcelona
Come party in the coolest place in town
When the weather outside is scorching, there’s only one place in town cooler than your hotel’s air-conditioned lobby. Situated right next to the roasting sands of Barceloneta beach, Barcelona’s Ice Bar is as cold as they come with a special chamber that maintains a year round temperature of between -5 and -10 degrees Celsius.
Guests are given Arctic-style silver jackets and a pair of gloves and invited into the 50-person capacity subzero bar to sample a vodka or two and admire the impressive ice sculptures on display. In 2023, the theme is ‘love’, and guests can take Instagram friendly shots of kissing couples, angel wings, or cuddle up to a lonely frozen deep sea diver. All the sculptures have been carved by local Catalan artists. It’s not only the sculptures though, but also the bar counter, stools and even the shot glasses that are made of frozen H2O.
The experience is very affordable at €19 and this includes a free drink, although you might want to upgrade to enjoy the likes of their Romantic Pack, or one of their special group deals. Check the “Packs” section of their website!
Paradoxically, Ice Barcelona is not just a place to cool down, but also offers a great chance to “warm up” for the night ahead. Their terrace has the best location in town, on the Port Olimpic overlooking the beach, and surrounded by other stylish bars, lounges and clubs. During summer DJs spin soulful and deep house on their terrace every night until late, whilst they also host regular special events like swimwear and lingerie fashion shows. Follow them on Facebook for their latest news.
