La Cereria
Quirky vegetarian restaurant in Gotico
This charming cafe/restaurant, in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, is a great find for those weary of searching in vain for the vegetarian options on the menus of Barcelona’s numerous tapas bars.
At La Cereria patrons can choose from such homemade healthy treats as vegan pizza, veggie-filled empanadas and delicious crepes without a sausage or steak in sight, or waiters that think chicken is not a kind of meat (and yes that seriously does happen). The venue itself will undoubtedly appeal to Bohemian types who will appreciate the quirky decor, which includes a unashamedly pink paintjob, beautiful black and white floor tiles and a downstairs cellar with charismatic barebrick walls.

We arrived into Barcelona and were delighted to have La Cereria on our door stop. The first night I had the deluxe hamburgeress and my partner had the black beans with chocolate sauce. Wonderful flavours, textures and good portions too. We didn't have enough room for pudding so came back for lemon meringue pie (me), blackcurrant cheesecake (him) and Catalan hot chocolate after full day of walking around the city. Tangy pie, rich cheesecake and gorgeously thick hot chocolate. Recommended!1 year ago
