Las Arenas
Bullfighting ring turned shopping centre
Bullfighting has been officially banned in Catalonia for a good few years now. But what happened to the city’s bullfighting rings? Well, Las Arenas was transformed into a shopping centre.
The original structure of the ring is still intact, only instead of stands for crowds to cheer on the bloody spectacle, you’ll find your standard Spanish high street shops. While the shopping is nothing exceptional, the view from the top is. Go up to the top floor and you’ll find a 360-degree ringed viewing platform that gives you a great view of Montjuic, the Miro Park, and the Eixample district.
