The George Payne

One of Barcelona’s biggest and best Irish pubs, The George Payne is a huge temple of fun, in the centre of town, that caters for all your nightlife needs under one roof.

To start with its a great looking joint, with elegant wooden decor, classic sporting memorabilia, and even stained glass windows overlooking the staircase that leads up to the gallery level. But more than that, with its well-designed layout, generous drinks promos, great music and regular events (like Beer Pong Mondays, Karaoke Thursdays and Ladies Night on Fridays), there’s always an international party atmosphere at the George Payne – making it one of the best bars to meet people in Barcelona.

The pub is never more raucous than during major sporting occasions, and with its giant projector in the main salon, and 10 high definition big screens, punters get a good view of the action no matter where they’re sat. Typically, you can catch any big match in the Premier League, Champions League or La Liga, while they also show the rugby, F1, NFL and NBA. They keep their website updated with what they’re showing so you don’t have to risk getting down there and being disappointed!

Food-wise, and the George Payne serves up classic pub grub, such as big burgers, loaded nachos and spicy chicken wings; while its range of beers runs the gamut of international greats, starting of course with Guinness and Murphy’s. Braver drinkers might want to order their notorious ‘Black Out Tray’, laden with 6 shots, 4 cocktails and a litre of vodka-Redbull.
