When I first launched this website from my bedroom cupboard on Casanova street, I didn’t have the ambition or business drive to imagine that 9 years later I would have helped nearly 5 million people plan their Barcelona travels and experiences. Truth be told, I just wanted to be able to pay the rent and spend more time in this wonderful city, dubbed by its admirers as The Great Enchantress.
It’s been a rocky path, full of setbacks and frustrations – and distractions (how does anyone get any work done in this city!?), but an immensely rewarding one at the same time.
The next chapter of Barcelona Life is a little overdue, as I’ve been meaning to update the design and functionality for about three years now, but finally it’s ready, and I’m possibly even more excited about working on this project than when I first started. Aside from a fresh look and improved user-friendliness, nine years’ worth of articles and reviews have been brought up to date, providing a great wealth of tips, advice and info for both the first time visitor and the experienced Barcelonin.
Migrating the website to WordPress has also meant I can finally launch a blog section, something that seems obvious for a local lifestyle and travel guide, but yet wasn’t so common back in the dark ages of the Internet when this website was first launched.
